Experience

Our clients know us to be experts in all matters of running a utility company or an independent telecommunication firm. They look to us for information … for guidance … for the products and services they need to improve efficiencies and better achieve their business goals, whether it be in the realm of electric power, SCADA / Smart Grid technology, or telecommunications.

Our Electric Power Experience

We’ve been providing high-quality electric power services – engineering, design, consultation, testing, and commissioning – since our founding in 1979. All kinds of clients avail themselves of our electric power expertise. They include municipalities, telecommunication concerns, universities, industrial and commercial enterprises, architectural and engineering firms, and contractors, among others. What specifically recommends us to them is our skill in negotiation, planning, relay replacement, conducting studies, substation design, and line design – not to mention designing and implementing UMS SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) / Smart Grid systems.

Our Telecommunications Experience

It was in 1985 that Spectrum, recognizing how badly the electric power industry needed reliable high-speed relay communication between substations, entered the telecommunications field. Since then, we've become a trusted resource for telecommunication feasibility studies, business plans, optical fiber evaluation, and client-specific system designs, including FTTx networks. Many clients in a diverse range of industries look to us as their single provider of effective fiber-optical network solutions.

Our SCADA / Smart Grid Experience

From its founding, Spectrum has continued to lead the way in technological advances, and that’s particularly true where SCADA / Smart Grid systems are concerned. We’ve long had experience with the major suppliers of electrical equipment tying into SCADA. This gave us the insight to design, patent, and implement our own Utility Management Sentinel (UMS) SCADA systems for municipalities, universities, and rural electric cooperatives. Today, our expertise in this area has enabled us to deliver much-needed solutions for renewable energy integration and other “green” concerns, such as outage mitigation and smart metering.
