Project Summary:

Faced with the need to replace 1950’s switchgear located at the power plant building, Spectrum Engineering Corporation was called on to assist in the new 15 kV substation switchgear from complete design to commissioning. The old switchgear was successfully retired by rerouting secondary bus from the transformer to the new switchgear.

Faced with the need to replace 1950’s switchgear at their power plant building, Logansport Municipal Utilities called on Spectrum Engineering Corporation to help with new 15 kV substation switchgear from the complete design to commissioning cycle. Multiple steps were taken to make this switchgear relocation a success.

Below are key engineering support services provided to ensure a smooth process between owner, engineer and vendors:

  • Provided preliminary and final design drawings to Logansport, which included duct bank profiles, equipment specifications, and structural review
  • Pre-bid and pre-construction documents and onsite facilitated meetings were part of the project services
  • Facilitated construction pre-bid meeting and ongoing site visits and inspections
  • Conducted final testing and commissioning of all switchgear-related equipment

This was a large project with significant coordination requirements. The old switchgear was successfully retired by rerouting secondary bus from the transformer to the new switchgear.
