Client:

City of Scottsburg

Location:

Scottsburg, Indiana

Services Provided (Not Limited To):
  • Engineering considerations provided on operational issues as routine inspections
  • Common costs communicated that parties are responsible to cover
Project Summary:

The city appreciated the mutual pole use agreement draft provided by Spectrum Engineering Corporation and later had the existing agreement updated to reflect utility cost and pole changes.

By law a utility entity owns and is liable for their utility poles containing both electric and communication assets. The utility rents communications space to companies, requiring a two-way contract known as a “joint use pole attachment agreement." Drawing from its extensive experience, Spectrum Engineering Corporation can provide expert advice on what can at times be seen as a complex business process.

Below are key engineering support services provided to ensure a smooth process between owner, engineer and licensee:

  • Engineering considerations were provided on operational issues such as routine inspections
  • Common costs are communicated that parties are responsible to cover, such as penalty and rental fees, and make-ready provisions

The city of Scottsburg appreciated the mutual pole use agreement draft that Spectrum Engineering Corporation assisted with. At a later date, Spectrum Engineering Corporation was contacted to conduct an additional review of the existing agreement related to needs such as changing utility practices, new attachees, transfers, overlashings, and overall rate increases.
